CLUBHOUSE

DSC_0147The clubhouse, originally an abandoned pole-barn, was converted to the social quarters of the club between 1949 and 1950. Wood flooring was added upstairs and a bar and kitchen replaced the horse stalls below. At the end of the 1st year there were 71 active members. Several events are planned for the enjoyment of the membership each year. The club also operates a snack bar which is open during regular business hours.

Our facilities including the social hall, golf course and pool are available for private rental by members/guests for weddings, parties and other events for groups ranging from 10 to 250. Our full service kitchen is also available for your use by your choice of caterer as long as approved by the Club Manager. Fees are determined by the type of function and number of attendees. Please call the Club Manager for prices and availability.

The Board of Directors and Membership of The Bedford Country Club thank you for your interest in our facility. We hope that you visit us in person so that you can truly appreciate our beautiful surroundings and atmosphere and club amenities. We hope you have an opportunity to meet and get to know the wonderful people who comprise our membership. If you have an interest in becoming part of our family, we invite you to spend some time with our Club Manager and members who can answer your questions and provide valuable insight on what it means to be a member of our club. Play a round of golf on us (green fees waived) and see for your self why Bedford Country Club is rated as one the top 9-hole courses on the east coast. We look forward to seeing you!

GOLF

DSC_0145The golf course was designed by Fred Findley of Charlottesville, Virginia. The original sand greens were replaced with grass in the summer of 1953. Today, the course remains much the same as originally envisioned with the exception of the reversal of order of play so that #9 finishes next to the club house. The course consists of 9 holes, with alternating Blue/White tees for men and Red/Yellow tees for the women. The length is only 5,871 with a course rating of 68.2 and slope of 112, but don’t let that fool you. The small undulating greens and changes in elevation of the course provide a challenging venue for even the lowest handicap players.

An average foursome can complete a round of golf in 3 ½hours or less, and is one of the best kept secrets in the region. Walking is allowed, and the club also provides carts to those who wish to ride. There are many year round club sponsored tournaments including couples golf and an expanding junior golf program.

SWIMMIMG

The first pool at the club was constructed in 1956. The pool was enlarged to its current Olympic size in 1981 and is a focal point for children and adults alike from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Depending on the weather, the pool at times, remains open through September.
